A Narrow Window to Restore Gaza Trademark Rights: Renewal Relief Until 11 August 2026
The Registrar of Trademarks in the Gaza Strip has reportedly extended a temporary waiver of late renewal fees for eligible trademark registrations.
Under the latest administrative direction, trademark registrations that expired during the period beginning 7 October 2023 and ending 11 August 2026 may reportedly be renewed without payment of the applicable late renewal fees, provided that the renewal application is filed no later than 11 August 2026.
A limited window for portfolio recovery
The waiver should not be viewed as a general extension of all trademark deadlines. It is a targeted administrative measure addressing renewals affected by the prolonged interruption and operational difficulties affecting the Gaza Trademark Office.
The distinction is important. The relief appears to concern the waiver of late renewal fees, rather than the automatic restoration of every lapsed registration or the removal of other procedural requirements. Trademark owners should therefore confirm, on a case-by-case basis:
The registration number, proprietor and current status of each mark;
The original renewal deadline and whether it falls within the eligible period;

Resumption does not mean normalization

A deadline may be preserved only if the application is properly submitted and accepted through the relevant channel.
